Publishing NI
Having identified a need for publishers in Northern Ireland to reach new readers and be more available for existing readers and that arts centres across Northern Ireland wanted to be able to give the public the chance to meet Northern Irish writers, PublishingNI was established in 2011 as a new organisation that aimed to raise the profile of Northern Irish writing and publishing as well as to increase local readerships and create new audiences by developing regular tours of Northern Irish published books across arts centres, tourism centres and similar venues in NI.
Graphicsgarage won a competitive tender to design the logo, which resulted in a number of concepts being produced and the client selecting the above as their chosen preference. The apostrophe motif, while needing no real explanation, was designed to create a direct link with the written word without falling into clichéd symbols of printing and publishing, whilst incorporating bright eye-catching colours to attract a wide audience, in particular younger readers. Other materials included banner stands and direct mail flyers.
